The U.S. Air Force is denying a recent report suggesting the military is readying nuclear-armed B-52 bombers for 24-hour alert.
Ann Stefanek, chief of Air Force media operations at the Pentagon, said it was a misunderstanding that led to the initial report about moving the bombers into a position unseen since the Cold War, the Washington Examiner reported Monday afternoon.
“We are not planning or preparing to put B-52s back on alert,” Stefanek told reporters.
Fox News's national security correspondent, Jennifer Griffin, also described Defense One's Sunday report as “not accurate”.
