Just in time for Halloween, NASA has released a collection of spooky sounds from space that has us convinced the Universe is just one gigantic haunted house.

While there is no atmosphere to carry sound waves in the vacuum of space, spacecraft journeying through our solar system have been recording the radio emissions that come from planetary bodies. Those emissions are then re-transmitted back to NASA here on earth, where they're translated into sound waves for human ears.

NASA shared some of the spooky sounds they've been collecting from space over the years  to a playlist on Soundcloud.

The playlist includes sounds from the 'roar' of Jupiter's magnetic field, plasma waves, radio emissions from Saturn and even a close encounter with a comet.

NASA described the sounds on their page as 'eerie to hear' and how the sounds are sure to make your skin crawl.

Soaring to the depths of our universe, gallant spacecraft roam the cosmos, snapping images of celestial wonders. Some spacecraft have instruments capable of capturing radio emissions. When scientists convert these to sound waves, the results are eerie to hear.
