LISTEN: Tampa Bay Council Holds Session to Get Ready For Next Big Storm

PINELLAS PARK -- A regional planning group meets Thursday morning (8th) to find ways to fund projects to protect against damage, when the next hurricane strikes Pinellas County.

Jamie Neville, the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council, says they're having a "listening session" to talk about the problems with Hurricane Idalia and how to lessen damage from future storms.

Local, state and federal officials will be on hand to talk about finding grants for resiliency and mitigation projects. They'll also talk about providing an economy that can recover more quickly after a storm, for example, by having more workers on hand who can help get things going again, and by creating an economy that can bounce back more quickly.

The meeting begins at 8 a.m. and runs until noon. It can be accessed virtually via a Zoom link on the TBRPC website.
