The Kansas City Royals (16-15) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (14-16) 3-0 on Wednesday night at Steinbrenner Field. The Royals have now won the three-game series with the finale coming up on Thursday afternoon.
Kansas City got a two-run homer from Vinnie Pasquantino in the third before Bobby Witt Jr added some insurance in the fifth. Offensively, the Rays were unable to figure out Royals rookie Noah Cameron, who was making his big-league debut. He shut the Rays out on one hit in six and one-third innings of work while striking out three and walking five.
Drew Rasmussen (1-2, 2.64) took the loss for the Rays, allowing three earned runs on six hits in five innings of work in which he struck out three and walked one.
The Rays will now look to salvage the series finale coming up on Thursday afternoon. Shane Baz (3-0, 2.45) is scheduled to start for the Rays and face Seth Lugo (2-3, 3.08) for Kansas City. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 PM - pregame coverage begins with Ronnie Lane hosting the Inside Pitch at high noon on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
