Rays Blank Marlins To Even Series

The Tampa Bay Rays (21-24) defeated the Miami Marlins (17-27) 4-0 on Saturday afternoon in Miami. With the win, the Rays have evened the three-game series at a game apiece.

The Rays got all their offense in the fifth inning. After Chandler Simpson drove in a run with a RBI single, Yandy Diaz had a two-run single to make it 3-0. Jonathan Aranda added still another RBI single to make it 4-0. Simpson, Yandy and Aranda all finished the game with two hits.

Drew Rasmussen (2-4, 2.93) picked up the win after pitching six shutout innings in which he allowed four hits while striking out five and walking none.

The Rays will now look to win the series when they meet in the rubber game on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1:40 PM - Chris Adams-Wall begins pregame coverage with This Week In Rays Baseball at high noon on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
