Yankees Complete Sweep of Rays

The New York Yankees (69-57) beat the Tampa Bay Rays (61-66) 6-4 in ten innings on Wednesday night to sweep the short two-game series between divisional rivals.

The Yankees built a 3-0 lead through eight innings thanks to two solo homers from Trent Grisham and a third solo homer from Austin Wells. The Rays rallied with a solo homer from Bob Seymour in the bottom of the eighth and a two-run double from Hunter Feduccia in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game 3-3.

In the tenth inning, the Yankees got a two-run homer from Giancarlo Stanton and a solo shot from Austin Wells (his second of the night) to take a 6-3 lead. The Rays got one run back in the bottom of the tenth from a RBI single from Bob Seymour to make it 6-4, which would prove to be the final score.

The Rays now begin a three-game interleague series with the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday night. First pitch Thursday is scheduled for 7:35 PM - pregame coverage begins with Ronnie Lane hosting Inside Pitch at 6:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
