Rays Bounce Back With Win Over Royals

The Tampa Bay Rays (44-33) defeated the Kansas City Royals (34-47) 5-3 on Wednesday night at Tropicana Field. With the win, the Rays bounced back in the series after dropping the first two games to Kansas City.

The Rays got the scoring started with three runs in the third inning before adding two more in the fourth to build a 5-0 lead. Yandy Diaz went 4-for-5 on the night to lead the Rays offense - Jonathan Aranda added two hits and an RBI.

Griffin Jax (3-5, 3.33) got the win, pitching five innings in which he allowed two runs - neither of them earned - on five hits while striking out seven and walking two. Bryan Baker allowed a run in the ninth but held on to earn his 20th save of the season.

The Rays will now look to salvage a split of the four game series when they meet in the series finale on Thursday afternoon. First pitch Thursday is scheduled for 12:10 PM - pregame coverage begins with Ronnie Lane hosting Inside Pitch at 11 AM on 95.7 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
